What Is Noise Insulation?

Many people get confused when they hear the phrase "noise insulation." While to some it may come as common knowledge as to exactly what it is, to others it is a mystery. Fortunately, there is quite a bit of literature on the subject, and once one has a handle on it, it begins to make perfect sense. Noise insulation is just that - a mechanism that insulates a room (or other area) from outside noise.

The importance of noise insulation comes from it's uses. For instance, recording studios use noise insulation so that not only does no noise get out of the room and into the hallway or other room, but also so that no noise from outside can get in and interfere with the recording process. Other applications for noise insulation are in common area-rich institutions such as hotels. Hotels insulate their walls with noise insulation so that their guests have less of a chance of being bothered by the neighbors.

The cost effectiveness of using noise insulation goes directly along with its importance. For instance, if there was no noise insulation in a recording studio, chances are you would have to pay for more studio time in order to finish a project. Or, if a hotel had no noise insulation, customers would complain and demand their money back. When looked at this way, it is plain to see why noise insulation is important and cost effective, and should be applied whenever and wherever it may be deemed appropriate.
