Wool insulation

What is Wool Insulation?

Wool insulation is energy efficient, eco-friendly insulation made from the wool of sheep that is mechanically bonded together to form the familiar insulation batts and ropes. Sheep wool is a natural, sustainable, recyclable, material that is safe to use in all aspects of home or commercial insulation.

Wool has long since been used to insulate people from the elements in the form of clothing. Sheep's wool has natural insulating properties as the hairs are crimped, trapping air in millions of tiny pockets. It has been estimated that wool has a significantly higher R rating than fiberglass, cellulose, or mineral wool and owing to the crimping of the fibres, wool withstands breaking and settling much longer than most other insulating materials.

Sheep's wool fibres are too thick to cause respiratory illnesses or cancer and because of the unique way the fibres trap common contaminates such as formaldehyde, nitrogen and sulfer dioxide commonly emitted by building materials, wool prevents sick building syndrome. Wool is naturally flame retardant, self-extinguishing, won't melt, and doesn't give off poisonous gases if ignited. Wool insulation is also biodegradable.

Wool insulation is the perfect material in which to insulate your home or office. It is a cost effective, health and environment oriented alternative to other, more traditional insulation materials such as fiberglass and cellulose.
